Robla School District Board of Education appoints new trustee

At its October 27th board meeting, Raynell Hamilton-Starks was officially sworn in as a trustee for the Robla School District Board of Education by Board President Ken Barnes.  Hamilton-Starks is replacing the board seat vacated by long-time board member Dennis Boyd, who died in August 2022.

Hamilton-Starks is a lifelong resident of the Robla community. As a child, Hamilton-Starks attended Taylor Street Elementary School, then went on to graduate from Grant High School  High School.  She became the first person in her family to attend and graduate from college, and earned both her undergraduate in Communication and graduate degree in Education from the University of the Pacific.  She is a student affairs practitioner with UC Davis,  where she serves as the Director of Transitional and Enrichment Programs and Services in the Office of Educational Opportunity and Enrichment Services. She started her  career working with TRiO programs and providing support to first-generation college students.

“I am grateful to give back to the schools and community that supported me when I was growing up, and to bring my educational and professional experiences to serving on the Robla School Board, where I intend to serve students to the best of my ability,” said Hamilton-Starks.

“Ms. Hamilton-Starks brings a personal and professional perspective that will continue to allow our board to focus on our greatest priority: our students,” said Board President Ken Barnes.

Hamilton-Starks was selected by the board through an application and interview process, and will serve from 2022-26.
