  1. Narrative description of the Prop 28 arts education program(s) funded. (2500 character limit)

The New Hope Charter arts enrichment program in 2023-24 focused on music and fine arts. Through strategic partnerships with professional artists and a veteran art educator, New Hope scholars received weekly instruction in piano, guitar, drawing and painting. For the vast majority of our scholars, this experience was the first opportunity to read music, play an instrument, and learn the intricacies of formal drawing and painting. New Hope Charter strives to make arts accessible to all of our scholars. Thus, we provide arts instruction and enrichment during the school day each Thursday. All instruments are also purchased by New Hope Charter for student use. Finally, this engaging arts enrichment would not be financially possible for the vast majority of our scholars, nearly 90% of whom come from families who are

eligible for free or reduced-price meals
